Their story began in 2006, when Nick, a young paramedic, and Nicole, an ambitious EMT aspiring to be a physician assistant, found themselves gravitating toward one another amid a shared circle of colleagues. Amongst the good times and shared experiences of weekend gatherings with friends they grew closer together.
As Nicole pursued her studies in Atlanta, Georgia, Nick became her unwavering pillar of support, fortifying the foundation of their relationship. Despite the demanding nature of his 12-hour shifts, Nick made the six-hour drive every weekend to see Nicole, fostering a love that only grew stronger with time. Nick's persistence and dedication, not only strengthened their bond but also served as a testament to his love and commitment for Nicole. Amidst the miles of road and the time spent together, they shared a poignant promise: if they could weather this phase of their relationship with such unwavering dedication, they would take the next step and get married. This shared commitment anchored their hearts together amidst separation, reaffirming their shared resolve to build a life together.
After Nicole graduated and became a PA, they sealed their commitment to each other in marriage in 2010 and soon after started their own family welcoming their 2 kids into the world.
In the midst of their careers and raising an adventurous family, the first inkling of what would become Anchors Up Island Adventures took hold in Nick's mind. One day out on the island Nick spotted a fellow boater's custom pontoon boat equipped with a quaint cabin, fire pit, and ample space for family shenanigans. That picturesque scene cemented itself in Nick's mind and stuck with him as their kids got older. Eventually, the decision was made to take on the project of restoring his own boat, transforming it into a vessel that his whole family can enjoy. And so, Anchors Up Island Adventures took form.
